Night Registered Nurse - St Helens

Salary: £16 per hour

Responsible to: Unit Manager / Senior Nurse

Responsible for: Senior Carers, Care Assistants

Main Purpose of the Job:

To ensure that the provision of nursing and care is of the highest possible standard for all Residents.

To assume responsibility for the running of the Unit/Floor in the absence of the Unit Manager/Senior Nurse

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

To assist the Unit Manager/Senior Nurse in the day to day operation of the Unit/Floor, ensuring compliance with Company Policies - Procedures at all times.

To ensure that the Unit/Floor complies with the requirements and standards of the Care Quality Commission and terms of the Certificate of Registration.

To ensure that own nursing duties comply with the professional standards laid down in the current Nursing - Midwifery Council - Code of Conduct.

Ensure that the highest standards of care are provided for all Residents and comply with all the requirements of individual care plans.

Ensure that an appropriate social/therapeutic environment is maintained, which meets the needs of individual Residents, based on the philosophy of Person Centred Care.

To assist in the implementation and development of new strategies which enhance the standard and delivery of care.

To carry out own duties as part of the agreed staffing rota and ensure that staffing levels on the Unit/Floor are capable of meeting the needs of Residents at all times.

Ensure that members of staff respect the privacy, dignity and choice of Residents at all times.

To provide effective and positive leadership for the staff team and individuals.

Ensure that correct and proper documentation and records are maintained in compliance with Company Policies - Procedures.

Assist in maintaining sound working relationships with Social Services, clinical/medical professionals, CQC and other agencies.

Ensure that all visitors are given a courteous and professional welcome, whether in person or on the telephone and all enquiries and problems are handled promptly and efficiently.

To attend and contribute to meeting within the Home when required as part of the role.

To assist in ensuring that all staff working on the Unit/Floor have the necessary skills and knowledge and are competent to carry out their job properly, with ongoing training and development provided as appropriate.

Participate in the induction of new employees on the Unit/Floor ensuring a timely and appropriate induction into the organisation.

To work as part of a team, communicating positively and showing respect for colleagues and Residents at all times.

To ensure that all matters relating to the Company, Employees and Residents remains strictly private and confidential at all times.

To ensure that all work is carried out in a correct and safe manner and with particular regard to the safety and welfare of fellow employees and visitors.

To promote the good name of the Company at all times in dealings with visitors, other agencies, professionals, potential service users and the community.

The jobholder has a personal responsibility to carry out all work in accordance with Company Policies - Procedures.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as required by a Manager or Director of the Company.

Self Development / Training:

Every encouragement is given to all employees to develop their skills and knowledge. The appropriate manager will discuss training and development needs with individuals, to ensure that they can properly fulfill the requirements of their job. Please note that 'mandatory' training is a contractual requirement.
