Head of Data Strategy (remote working) - London or any other UK city

£110k to £120k basic + bonus

My client, an awesome media house in Central London, is looking for a strategic Head of Data, who can be based in any city across the whole of the UK, as the role offers remote working.

As a Head of Data, you will be responsible for data strategy, with a focus on customer data. You will proactively ask questions, create deep actionable insights, visualize data and build models for all aspects of the digital business with the diverse data from the agency's many digital properties.

Role Overview:

You will manage a large team of data engineers, data scientists, data analysts including line managers and specialists, and that team is likely to grow, so team leadership and people management is key.

You will be responsible for structuring and scaling the Data team and hiring additional members and contributes to overall budget process for Product - Engineering, negotiates contacts with relevant suppliers and monitors costs.

You will act as a role model and take a lead on change initiatives to support the group's strategy and the employees and you will define and articulate the Group's customer data strategy, which will support the agency's customer strategy.

Key attributes and responsibilities:

Expert knowledge of managing customer data, advanced data engineering and deep analysis as an experienced practitioner

Clear and articulate with strong written and verbal communication skills, whether in presenting a strategic vision to the board, summarising findings from complex data analysis for a non-technical audience, preparing management reports for stakeholders

A strong team manager, with demonstrable experience of coaching the team to develop their careers and their skills.

Technically proficient - able to undertake analysis personally where appropriate, but also to oversee delivery through others

Proven ability to propose, design and deliver products built on data.

Track record in delivery of strategically important insight

Additional experience would be ideal:

Applying quantitative methods to real-world problems

Test-and-learn methodologies and measuring ROI

Python, and libraries like scipy, scikit-learn, pandas

Relational databases such as MySql or PostgreSQL (experience with NoSQL databases, Redshift or BigQuery is a plus)

Modern data-processing frameworks like Hadoop/mapreduce, Scala, Dataflow or equivalent

AI and machine learning technologies
