£80 to £100 basic + flexi/remote working

My client am award-winning Publishing house is looking for a Product Lead, which is a key role overseeing their core news brands and ongoing digital growth. They have a number of business critical projects this role will oversee. To achieve, this role will work directly with UX - design, product management, engineering and data teams, and with editorial, commercial and customer relationships stakeholders from across their digital news products.

The Role

The Product Lead drives the development of best-in-class user experiences to attract, engage and retain customers across their portfolio of award-winning digital news titles. This is a wide-ranging role covering the entire customer journey from first encounter with their products through to engagement, active involvement and brand advocacy.

They will manage substantial major strategic projects (6-12 months) with significant business risk, including delivering a network-wide redesign and personalised experiences that will help drive up user engagement, increase loyalty and repeat visits. The Product Lead is responsible for defining strategy, vision and goals for their products and/or strategic projects, setting the roadmaps and delivering against them, defining and managing work streams, addressing gaps and overlaps, and ensuring overall success.

The Product Lead may also manage a small team of product managers and other specialists and must have the skills required to lead, mentor and develop others.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure Agency digital news products operate effectively at scale to support their customer strategy, meet user needs and deliver against business targets
Work closely with stakeholders across the business to have a detailed understanding of the problems, opportunities and potential solutions
Work with the user research team to gather qualitative and quantitative information about customer needs and motivations
Set objectives and measures of success

The Ideal Candidate

Degree level education or equivalent experience

5-10 years in product management, ideally including roles in news, media or publishing organisations

Track record of taking products or features from concept to user-facing launch

Experience managing complex, mature products in multi-stakeholder environments

Experience with user-centered and hypothesis-driven lean working practices

Line management experience

Experience of the following would be advantageous:

Working in news organisations, or in fast-moving, editorially led businesses

Delivering or managing products through rebrands or redesigns
